The ultimate endurance ride
Touring on the BMW R 1200 GS and GS Adventure to Deadhorse, Alaska
The tour begain in June from Reno, traveling through Northern California, Oregon and Washington picking up riders a long the way from Seattle, and Ontario. Road to Spokane, following 95, crossing into British Columbia at Kingsgate Canada, Team Deadhorse tours through Banff National Park and Jasper National Park with mountainous terrain, with numerous glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. From Jasper the tour travels to Prince George heading to Dawson Creek and jumping on the Alaska Highway, extending 1,523 miles northwest from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, to Fairbanks, Alaska and onto Deadhorse via the Dalton Highway from Fairbanks.
Deadhorse is an unincorporated community in North Slope Borough, Alaska, along the North Slope near the Arctic Ocean. Tourists traveling to Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay typically take tour buses from Fairbanks, a two-day journey with an overnight stop in Coldfoot. However the R1200GS/GSA Deadhorse Run is not your typical bike tour. During the summer months, visitors can access the Arctic Ocean during its summer thaw, as well as experience the midnight sun due to Deadhorse's location above the Arctic Circle.
The sweetest part of the tour are the motorcycles, the BMW R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure are designed for such a ride, with a very broad range of riding qualities for long tours combined with supreme pleasure on winding country and mountain roads.
